Airfare and Travel News

  • Most airlines have early bird airfares for sale to Europe for travel April to October next year. The first round of early bird airfare sales end mid November. Availability is limited, so if you are planning on travelling to Europe next year you should act quickly.
  • From 12 January 2009, the US Visa Waiver program. Passport holders from Visa Waiver countries (including Australia) will need to register online prior to travelling to the US. This registration process will replace the green visa waiver forms currently required for entry into the US. Each registration will be valid for 2 years.
  • Qantas received their first Airbus A380 aircraft in September and began regular passenger services on 20 October 2008. The A380 currently operates QF11/QF12 Sydney to Los Angeles and return on Fridays and QF93/QF94 Melbourne to Los Angeles and return on Mondays.
  • V Australia, Virgin Blue's new international airline, has delayed the commencement of flights until the end of February 2009. V Australia originally planned to commence flights to Los Angeles in mid-December 2008, but due to industrial action at the Boeing factory, the delivery of the first aircraft has been delayed.
